Hachy Kuwaiti

  • Kuwaiti Hachy is hard to understand. Some of Kuwaiti dialect are ogirinated from Hindi, Persian, French, Turkish..etc.

One word may have different meanings, or can be uttered in different ways for example: Nora can be also uttered as Nowaira as nickname or for short, some of Arabic words that consist of K will be transferred to Ch, Kalb in Arabic will be Chalb in Kuwaiti dialecect.
J will be replaced with Y, Jannah in Arabic means heaven in Kuwaiti it would be pronounced as Yannah.
Q will be transferred to J, Qaleel means little in Arabic, and will be pronounced in kuwaiti as Jeleel.

7achy is my personal research where I aim is to translate and explain the meaning of Kuwaiti words and their origins to both Kuwaitis and expats.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions.

7achy has won the following awards under the umbrella of UN-GAID and World Summit Award:

    First prize, e-culture category Kuwait e-Award 2011.
    e-Culture & Heritage Arab e-Content Award, 2011.

Bernadette:

I’m glad I found your website when I was browsing for restaurant’s number in Paperdump. I studied short course in Arabic in Aware but they teach the ‘real” Arabic, not the Kuwaiti dialect. I was hoping that you could come up with more insights and lessons about the Kuwaiti Dialect as I have been here in Kuwait for 3 years already and the variety of Arabic dialects is killing me :-)

Alia:

would you be interested in tutoring someone the kuwaiti dialect?

admin:

Ansam; 3assa allah ma yakhlina menich.

Bernadette; well wish we can dig deeper in kuwaiti dialect but unfortunately thats a different project, i guess i once saw a book about kuwaiti dialect lessons at almuthana bookshop, you can check it out.. but to be honest it wasnt written by Kuwaiti so i don’t know how right the material is.

Alia, i’m afraid that we don’t offer private lessons
